Our fire and smoke assessment report serves as a cornerstone for informed decision-making, instilling confidence in the restoration process, and contributes to the overall safety and well-being of the building's occupants.
The assessment comprises several components, including a meticulous visual inspection, a moisture survey, environmental sampling, and an odor evaluation. The visual inspection utilizes building science principles and techniques to trace pollutant pathways and uncover hidden smoke residues in cavities. We conduct a moisture survey to detect primary (suppression water) and secondary moisture issues, preventing or identifying mold and corrosion. We collect environmental samples for third-party lab analysis (e.g., microscopy for soot, char, ash quantification, pH/conductivity analysis, etc.). We also perform odor evaluations, assessing porous materials and overlooked areas such as stair assemblies and bathtub undersides.
Our in-depth assessments are backed by years of experience, multiple certifications, and specific testing and reporting. Our assessments are often requested to identify hidden contamination, avert long-term odors, address failed remediations and disputes, and uncover what others have missed in walls, insulation, and HVAC systems. We combine CIH exposure science, remediation and mitigation principles, and building science for holistic fire project management. Thus, our assessment addresses critical areas that are routinely missed by inspectors, adjusters, and contractors.
Using field experience and IICRC S700 standards, our reports define an accurate scope of work. Our process provides remediation recommendations, cleaning protocols, and completion criteria per IICRC S700, AIHA Guidelines, and RIA standards — technically defensible and actionable in litigation. Our team delivers detailed reports with photos, tables, lab data, and protocols that are clear for clients, adjusters, and attorneys.
